The ceria-treated carbon results in about 32.7% less acetaldehyde, about 35.0% less acetone, about 19.4% less acrolein, and about 3.8% less formaldehyde. When smoked under a 60/30/2 smoking regimen, the ceria-treated carbon results in about 19.1% less carbonyl-containing compounds in the mainstream smoke as compared to the untreated control. The ceria-treated carbon results in about 20.1% less acetaldehyde, about 11.8% less acetone, about 16.7% less acrolein, and about 23.8% less formaldehyde.
