PharmacodynamicsStannous chloride itself is not known to produce a pharmacological effect at the dosages used clinically.

Mechanism of ActionStannous chloride acts as a reducing agent for technetium-99m allowing formation of a Tc99m-Sn-pyrophosphate complex in combination sodium pyrophosphate. See [DB09165] for information on the active agent.
