Procedure

A mixture of (1-ethyl-propyl)-[6-methyl-3-nitro-2-(4-chloro-2,6-dimethyl-phenoxy)-pyridin-4-yl]-amine (100 mg, 0.265 mmol) and iron (73 mg, 1.33 mmol) in 12 ml of AcOH/H2O (1:1) was heated at 60° C. for 3 hours. The mixture was concentrated to dryness. The residue was diluted with water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried and concentrated to give the title compound. 1H NMR (CDCl3) δ 7.04 (s, 2H), 6.12 (s, 1H), 3.60 (brs, 2H), 3.28 (m, 1H), 2.14 (s, 3H), 2.10 (s, 6H), 1.45–1.80 (m, 4H), 0.97 (t, 6H) ppm.
