Procedure

A mixture of 1-(2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-β-D-glucopyranosyl)-3-(5-(2-benzyloxymethyl-2H-tetrazol-5-yl)-2-thienylmethyl)-4-chlorobenzene (247 mg), 6M aqueous hydrochloric acid solution (2 ml) and methanol (20 ml) was refluxed overnight. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue was triturated with diethyl ether to give the desired 1-(β-D-glucopyranosyl)-4-chloro-3-(5-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)-2-thienylmethyl)benzene (172 mg) as colorless powder. ESI-Mass m/Z 437/439 (M−H).
