THE VARIATION IN THE ACUTE BASAL TOXICITY OF THE THIOLACTAMS WAS MAINLY DUE TO THE CHANGE IN THE LIPOHYDROPHILIC CHARACTER. THE DIPOLE MOMENT APPEARS TO PLAY A SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN DETERMINING THE CONVULSANT ACTIVITY IN THE TOXICITY OF THIOLACTAMS, LACTAMS, & GAMMA-THIOBUTYROLACTONE.
