DefinitionIrgacure 250 (HRcure-250; Photosensitizer 25) has been tested and used alone or in combination with a suitable photosensitizer such as thiazolone for varnishes on UV-curable inks, adhesives, paper, metal, and plastic surfaces. When combined with an α-hydroxyketone initiator, excellent surface curing effects and speed can be obtained. HRcure-250 has a great application in graphic art imaging and adhesives. In dark paints and inks (such as rutile, titanium dioxide, colored pigments, etc.), HRcure-250 requires only a minimal concentration to exhibit excellent curing. It exhibits only minimal yellowing under a large amount of ultraviolet radiation. In dark systems, Irgacure 250 needs to be used in combination with a photosensitizer. The excellent matting ability allows IRGACURE 250 to be used in curing thick film systems when used with suitable photosensitizer.
