DOT-KennzeichnungOxidizer Poison
BrandgefahrenFlash point data for this chemical are not availablehowever, it is probably combustible. (NTP, 1992)
GesundheitsgefahrenSYMPTOMS: Symptoms of exposure to this compound may include irritation of the skin, eyes, mucous membranes and upper respiratory tract. It may also cause lung damage.
GefahrenübersichtA strong oxidizing agentHarmful by ingestion and inhalationA skin, eye, mucous membrane, and upper respiratory tract irritant[CAMEO] Breaks down quickly forming hypochlorous acid and melamineLOAEL = 150 mg/kg/day in a 90-day gavage study of ratsCorrosive to eyes in animal testingChronic toxicity studies are not required for trichloromelamine based on its rapid degradation. [Reference #1] See Melamine.
Reaktive GruppeAmines, Phosphines, and Pyridines
Reactivity AlertsStrong Oxidizing Agent
Reactivity ProfileTRICHLOROMELAMINE is unstable and sensitive to heat and friction. This chemical is an oxidizer. It can ignite spontaneously in contact with reactive organic materials. It is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. It is also incompatible with strong reducing agents. Addition of acetone, ammonia, aniline or diphenylamine to the chemical causes, after a few seconds delay, a rapid reaction accompanied by smoke and flame. (NTP, 1992).

Anwendungen & Verwendung

Verwenden

Chlorine bleach and bactericide.

Air and Water ReactionsInsoluble in water.
Hazard Classes and CategoriesOx. Sol. 2 (100%)
BrandbekämpfungFires involving this material can be controlled with a dry chemical, carbon dioxide or Halon extinguisher. A water spray may also be used. (NTP, 1992)
Erste HilfeEYES: First check the victim for contact lenses and remove if present. Flush victim's eyes with water or normal saline solution for 20 to 30 minutes while simultaneously calling a hospital or poison control center. Do not put any ointments, oils, or medication in the victim's eyes without specific instructions from a physician. IMMEDIATELY transport the victim after flushing eyes to a hospital even if no symptoms (such as redness or irritation) develop.
Freisetung ohne BrandSMALL SPILLS AND LEAKAGE: If you spill this chemical, you should dampen the solid spill material with 5% acetic acid, then transfer the dampened material to a suitable container. Use absorbent paper dampened with 5% acetic acid to pick up any remaining material. Your contaminated clothing and the absorbent paper should be sealed in a vapor-tight plastic bag for eventual disposal. Wash all contaminated surfaces with 5% acetic acid followed by washing with a soap and water solution. Do not reenter the contaminated area until the Safety Officer (or other responsible person) has verified that the area has been properly cleaned.
Isolation and EvacuationExcerpt from ERG Guide 141 [Oxidizers - Toxic]:
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)RECOMMENDED RESPIRATOR: Where the neat test chemical is weighed and diluted, wear a NIOSH-approved half face respirator equipped with an organic vapor/acid gas cartridge (specific for organic vapors, HCl, acid gas and SO2) with a dust/mist filter. (NTP, 1992)
Unerwünschte WirkungenOccupational hepatotoxin - Secondary hepatotoxins: the potential for toxic effect in the occupational setting is based on cases of poisoning by human ingestion or animal experimentation.
