GHS-EinstufungThis chemical does not meet GHS hazard criteria for 2.6% (1 of 39) of reports.WarningH302 (97.4%): Harmful if swallowed [Warning Acute toxicity, oral]P264, P270, P301+P317, P330, and P501 (click each P-code to see the statement)Aggregated GHS information provided per 39 reports by companies from 4 notifications to the ECHA C&L Inventory.
Hazard Classes and CategoriesAcute Tox. 4 (97.4%)
ExpositionspfadeAfter topical application to the skin of normal subjects, systemic absorption of econazole nitrate is extremely low. Although most of the applied drug remains on the skin surface, drug concentrations were found in the stratum corneum which, by far, exceeded the minimum inhibitory concentration for dermatophytes.
ToxizitätsübersichtEconazole interacts with 14-&alphademethylase, a cytochrome P-450 enzyme necessary to convert lanosterol to ergosterol. As ergosterol is an essential component of the fungal cell membrane, inhibition of its synthesis results in increased cellular permeability causing leakage of cellular contents. Econazole may also inhibit endogenous respiration, interact with membrane phospholipids, inhibit the transformation of yeasts to mycelial forms, inhibit purine uptake, and impair triglyceride and/or phospholipid biosynthesis.
Carcinogen ClassificationNo indication of carcinogenicity to humans (not listed by IARC).

Anwendungen & Verwendung

Verwenden

antineoplastic, anti-estrogen. Econazole (Spectazole) is a synthetic imidazole. Econazole blocks C-14 demethylation of sterols, interfering with the biosynthesis of ergosterol, which results in disorganization of the fungal plasma cell membrane and increased permeability. It is active against dermatophytes, yeast, P. orbiculare, Aspergillus, Cladosporium, and Sporothrix.
