Molybdate (Mo7O246-), ammonium (1:6): ACTIVE
VerwendenAmmonium molybdate tetrahydrate is widely utilized in cryo-negative staining which helps to visualize particles while preserving the sample. It is used as a catalyst to desulfurize thiophene and its derivatives. It serves as an analytical reagent to measure the amount of phosphates, silicates, arsenates and lead in an aqueous solution. It is also used in electroplating, in fertilizers for crops and in the production of molybdenum metal and ceramics. It is used as an analgesic in medical field.

Acidic salts, such as AMMONIUM MOLYBDATE, are generally soluble in water. The resulting solutions contain moderate concentrations of hydrogen ions and have pH's of less than 7.0. They react as acids to neutralize bases. These neutralizations generate heat, but less or far less than is generated by neutralization of inorganic acids, inorganic oxoacids, and carboxylic acid. They usually do not react as either oxidizing agents or reducing agents but such behavior is not impossible. Many of these compounds catalyze organic reactions.
