GefahrenübersichtMay cause irritation[MSDSonline] See Mercaptobenzothiazole. See Mercapto mix.
FIFRA-AnforderungenAs the federal pesticide law FIFRA directs, EPA is conducting a comprehensive review of older pesticides to consider their health and environmental effects and make decisions about their future use. Under this pesticide reregistration program, EPA examines health and safety data for pesticide active ingredients initially registered before November 1, 1984, and determines whether they are eligible for reregistration. In addition, all pesticides must meet the new safety standard of the Food Quality Protection Act of 1996. Pesticides for which EPA had not issued Registration Standards prior to the effective date of FIFRA, as amended in 1988, were divided into three lists based upon their potential for human exposure and other factors, with List B containing pesticides of greater concern and List D pesticides of less concern. Zinc 2-mercaptobenzothiazolate is found on List B. Case No: 2380Pesticide type: fungicide, antimicrobial

Anwendungen & Verwendung

Verwenden

Zinc 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole is an additive which is used in flooring material to allow excellent hardening at low temperatures.

Case Status: RED Approved 09/94
OPP has made a decision that some/all uses of the pesticide are eligible for reregistration, as reflected in a Reregistration Eligibility Decision (RED) document.

Hazard Classes and CategoriesSkin Sens. 1B (93.7%)Skin sensitisation - category 1Skin sensitization - Category 1B
Skin, Eye, and Respiratory Irritations...REPORTED TO BE VERY IRRITATING TO EYES ... /2-MERCAPTOBENZOTHIAZOLE/
EntsorgungsverfahrenSRP: At the time of review, criteria for land treatment or burial (sanitary landfill) disposal practices are subject to significant revision. Prior to implementing land disposal of waste residue (including waste sludge), consult with environmental regulatory agencies for guidance on acceptable disposal practices.
UmweltverhaltenIn a weak alkaline or neutral soln the mercaptobenzothiazole anion can readily complex with various metal ions, such as Cu+2 or Zn+2, and form insoluble relatively undissociable salts.
Unerwünschte WirkungenOccupational hepatotoxin - Secondary hepatotoxins: the potential for toxic effect in the occupational setting is based on cases of poisoning by human ingestion or animal experimentation.
Human Toxicity Excerpts...SUBSTANCES CONTAINING THE BENZOTHIAZOLE NUCLEUS (MERCAPTOBENZOTHIAZOLE...) HAVE IRRITANT ACTION ON SKIN. /MERCAPTOBENZOTHIAZOLE/...REPORTED TO BE VERY IRRITATING TO EYES & TO EMIT HIGHLY TOXIC FUMES WHEN DECOMPOSED BY HEAT OR ACID. /2-MERCAPTOBENZOTHIAZOLE/
Probable Routes of Human ExposureIN THE RUBBER INDUSTRY, A NUMBER OF CHEM AGENTS USED IN PREPARING RUBBER CAN SENSITIZE EXPOSED WORKERS. THESE INCLUDE ACCELERATORS SUCH AS MERCAPTOBENZOTHIAZOLE... /MERCAPTOBENZOTHIAZOLE/
