20150-34-9NCC(=O)[O-].NCC(=O)[O-].[Fe+2]GIPOFCXYHMWROH-UHFFFAOYSA-LFerrous bisglycinate is a chelate that is used as a source of dietary iron. Forming a ring structure when reacting with glycine, ferrous bisglycinate acts as both a chelate and a nutritionally functional. It is found in foods for food enrichment or in supplements for the treatment of iron deficiency or iron deficiency anemia.

BeschreibungFerrous Bisglycinate, also known as ferrous glycinate, is an iron (II) chelate with an iron to glycine ratio of 1:2. It has an octahedral structure with two water molecules and two chelated glycinate ions coordinated to the central ferrous iron. Ferrous glycinate (processed with citric acid) also contains citric acid. It is manufactured by reaction of reduced iron with glycine in the presence of citric acid. The resulting product is spray dried without prior removal of the citric acid. The substance is highly hygroscopic and may contain water in variable amounts.
VerwendenFerrous Bisglycinate is an iron-amio acid chelate. In this the iron is protected from the action of absorption inhibitors by being bound to the amino acid and glycine. Ferrous bisglycinate is the major amino acid chelate produced commercially, although ferrous trisglycinate and ferric glycinate are also available. A patented ferrous bisglycinate compound, manufactured by Albion Laboratories, Utah, USA, has been used in most published studies. The chelate is reported to be formed by two glycine molecules combining with ferrous iron in a double heterocyclic ring structure. Evidence would suggest that iron is protected from inhibitors by the structure, since iron absorption is one to 3.5 times higher than from ferrous sulfate when added to bread rolls and milk products containing inhibitors such as phytate and calcium. Ferrous bisglycinate is more bioavailable than ferrous trisglycinate.
