Versuchsvorschrift

To a solution of 0.50 g of the title compound of Step D in 2 mL of THF was added 0.37 g of 4'-chlorothiopropionanilide and then 0.23 g of potassium tert-butoxide. (An exotherm occurred during this addition). The reaction was allowed to stir at room temperature overnight and then was heated briefly to reflux and allowed to cool. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate and washed successively with water and then with saturated aqueous NaCl. The organic phase was dried (MgSO4), filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by flash chromatography (50-60% ethyl acetate/hexanes) to afford 0.48 g of the title compound of Step E (about 95% pure), a compound of the invention. 1H NMR (CDCl3): δ 7.58 (m,1H), 7.37 (m,2H), 7.23 (m,3H), 6.60 (d,2H), 4.23 (s,2H), 3.86 (s,3H), 3.41 (s,3H).
