Following the procedure described for the preparation of 7-azido-8-oxo-2,2-dimethyl-3-oxa-1-azabicyclo[4.2.0]-octane from 8-oxo-2,2-dimethyl-3-oxa-1-azabicyclo[4.2.0]-octane (Example 5, Step A) and using 1-(t-butyldimethylsilyl)-4-vinyl-2-azetidinone there is obtained 1-(t-butyldimethylsilyl)-3-azido-4-vinyl-2-azetidinone. ##STR46##
