18.5 g (40 mmol) doxycyclin monohydrate is dissolved in 400 ml 0.1 M HCl and by titration with 100 ml 0.05 M (5 mmol) sucrose-octa-O-sulphonic acid, precipitation of doxycyclin sucrose octa sulphate takes place. The reaction mixture is stirred for about 60 min at 25° C., filtered, washed with 3×50 ml water (by dispersion and refiltration) and vacuum dried at about 1 Torr/25° C./sicapent®/20 h.
