Versuchsvorschrift

A solution of 4-(cycloheptimidazol-2-yl)-1-piperazinecarboxaldehyde (38 g) in a solution of 500 ml of 2 N hydrogen chloride in ethanol was refluxed for 6 hr and allowed to stand at room temperature for 18 hr. The precipitate was collected and dried to give the title compound as the hydrochloride salt (31 g): mp>280° C. and nmr(DMSO-d6) δ 3.37 (t, 4H), 4.3 (t, 4H), 8.4 (m, 5H) and 10.0 (s, 2H).
