In a similar manner to Reference Example 5,2-chloro-4-iodonicotinic acid (compound of Reference Example 1; 5.67 g) was reacted with 2-methylphenylboronic acid (3.00 g) to obtain 2-chloro-4-(2-methylphenyl)nicotinic acid (4.44 g, 90%).
