The reaction mixture was cooled and neutralized with 1N aqueous hydrochloric acid (4 ml) and the resultant aqueous solution was lyophilized. The residue was subjected to a silica gel column chromatography and elution was carried out with a mixture of methanol and chloroform (1:4, v/v). The desired fractions were combined and then evaporated to dryness in vacuo to give 6,9-dihydroxy-8-methylene-14-oxa-1,11-diazatetracyclo[7.4.1.02,7.010,12 ]tetradeca-2,4,6-triene-4-carbaldehyde (23 mg).
