Versuchsvorschrift

Ethyl N-(3-nitroquinolin-4-yl)-β-alaninate (50.0 g, 173 mmol) was hydrogenated in the presence of 5% platinum on carbon (1.0 g) according to the method described in Part C of Example 1. The reaction was allowed to proceed overnight under hydrogen pressure (40 psi, 2.8×105 Pa) and then subjected to the work-up procedure to provide 42.3 g of ethyl N-(3-aminoquinolin-4-yl)-β-alaninate.
