By substituting Nα -[3-(acetylthio)-2-(methoxycarbonylmethyl)propanoyl]-L-lysine for the Nα -[3-(acetylthio)-2-(methoxycarbonylmethyl)propanoyl]-L-arginine in the procedure of Example 18, Nα -[3-mercapto-2-(methoxycarbonylmethyl)propanoyl]-L-lysine is obtained.
