Using Method M above, (Z)-4-[5-amino-2,3-dihydro-3-[(3-methoxy-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)methylene]-2-oxo-1H-indol-4-yl]-benzoic acid methyl ester (310 mg, 0.8 mmol) (from Example 46 supra) was acylated with 2-thiopheneacetyl chloride (260 mg, 1.6 mmol) (Aldrich) in saturated aqueous NaHCO3 (1.6 mL) and THF (15 mL) at room temperature for 3 h to yield (Z)-4-[2,3-dihydro-3-[(3-methoxy-1H-pyrrol-2-yl) methylene]-2-oxo-5-[(2-thienylacetyl)amino]-1H-indol-4-yl]-benzoic acid methyl ester (yield 370 mg, 90%).
