Applications & Uses
Uses
Most widely used in cofactor recycling systems for NADH.
Uses
Formate Dehydrogenase (FDH) is used for diagnostics in large scale industrial processes. Its used in the production of an unnatural amino acid, tert-L-leucine, a component of some HIV protease and matrix metalloprotease inhibitors.
General Description
Formate:NAD+ oxidoreductaseFormate dehydrogenase is part of the D-specific 2-hydroxy acid superfamily of dehydrogenases. It is a dimer of two identical subunits. The enzyme has a cysteine residue which is essential for its activity or structural integrity.
