Pharmacology

MeSH Pharmacological Classification · 1 item

Compounds that inhibit the activity of DNA TOPOISOMERASE II. Included in this category are a variety of ANTINEOPLASTIC AGENTS which target the eukaryotic form of topoisomerase II and ANTIBACTERIAL AGENTS which target the prokaryotic form of topoisomerase II.

Applications · 2 items

DescriptionRufloxacin hydrochloride is another fluoroquinolone orally active antibacterial structurally and mechanistically related to temafloxacin and tosufloxacin. It is useful for the treatment of respiratory and urinary tract infections and also chronic bacterial prostatitis. Good tissue penetration with long acting activity has been reported.

UsesRufloxacin Hydrochloride inhibits human organic cation transporter 1 (hoCT1) (SLC22A1) but not hOCT2 (SLC22A2), and hOCT3 (SLC22A3) expressed in human embryonic kidney cell.
