Chemistry & industry
Applications
UsesChloromethyltrimethoxysilane may be used in the preparation of 1-methyl-1H-benzimidazole (MBI)-modified nanoparticles.{33} Mesoporous monolithic silica gels can also be prepared from Chloromethyltrimethoxysilane. {34}
General DescriptionChloromethyltrimethoxysilane (CMTMS) is a trialkoxysilane with chloromethyl as the organofunctional group having hydrophobic characteristics. Chloromethyl is the electron withdrawing group that improves the mechanical properties of the molecule. CMTMS is mainly utilized as a silane based precursor material for the preparation of surface enhancement based coatings and other silane based products.
