Health HazardsExcerpt from NIOSH Pocket Guide for Methyl demeton:
Hazards Summary · 1 item

It is less toxic than demeton. [ACGIH] A cholinesterase inhibitor that may cause CNS effects; Can be absorbed through skin; [ICSC] The average of two baseline respective cholinesterase activity determinations three days apart, with no exposures to enzyme inhibiting pesticides for at least 30 days, is recommended for each worker prior to exposure to cholinesterase inhibitors because of large inter-individual differences in published baseline values. To be established at least once a year. Removal from workplace exposures is recommended until the cholinesterase activity returns to within 20% of baseline. [TLVs and BEIs]

Organothiophosphates, such as METHYL DEMETON, are susceptible to formation of highly toxic and flammable phosphine gas in the presence of strong reducing agents such as hydrides. Partial oxidation by oxidizing agents may result in the release of toxic phosphorus oxides.

Chemical DangersDecomposes on burning. This produces phosphorous oxides and sulfur oxides.
Flammable LimitsCombustible Liquid
Packaging and LabellingDo not transport with food and feedstuffs.

EYES: First check the victim for contact lenses and remove if present. Flush victim's eyes with water or normal saline solution for 20 to 30 minutes while simultaneously calling a hospital or poison control center. Do not put any ointments, oils, or medication in the victim's eyes without specific instructions from a physician. IMMEDIATELY transport the victim after flushing eyes to a hospital even if no symptoms (such as redness or irritation) develop.
