Chemistry & industry
Applications
Uses5-Chloronicotinic Acid is used as reagent/reactant luminescence and hydrothermal preparation of cobalt/cadmium/lead chloronicotinate phenanthroline MOF.
Preparation methods
PreparationEthyl 5-chloronicotinic acid (10.5 g) was added to an aqueous solution of 1N NaOH (84.9 mL). The resulting reaction mixture was reacted at room temperature for several hours, and then transferred to 60 degrees Celsius to continue the reaction for 1 hour. The pH of the reaction solution was adjusted to 4-5 with hydrochloric acid, and a precipitate was observed to form. The precipitate was filtered to obtain the product 5-chloronicotinic acid, which was a colorless solid with a yield of 6.9 g.
