L - Antineoplastic and immunomodulating agents
QL - Antineoplastic and immunomodulating agents
Chemical substances, produced by microorganisms, inhibiting or preventing the proliferation of neoplasms.
Substances which lower blood glucose levels.
Agents that suppress immune function by one of several mechanisms of action. Classical cytotoxic immunosuppressants act by inhibiting DNA synthesis. Others may act through activation of T-CELLS or by inhibiting the activation of HELPER CELLS. While immunosuppression has been brought about in the past primarily to prevent rejection of transplanted organs, new applications involving mediation of the effects of INTERLEUKINS and other CYTOKINES are emerging.
Drugs used to protect against ionizing radiation. They are usually of interest for use in radiation therapy but have been considered for other purposes, e.g. military.
UsesGusperimus is a fully synthetic racemate that has a novel mechanism of action by binding to the intracellular heat shock protein hsp70 and interfering with intracellular signal transduction. This mechanism of action can enhance the effect of immunosuppressive therapy. Gusperimus can inhibit the differentiation of T cells into cytotoxic T cells, reduce the expression of IL-2 receptors on CD4 and CD8 cells, and inhibit IFN-γ-induced B cell maturation. In addition, when used with cyclosporine, tacrolimus or mycophenolate mofetil, Gusperimus can enhance the immunosuppressive effect and prevent allogeneic transplant rejection.
