MeSH Pharmacological Classification · 1 item

Agents used in the prophylaxis or therapy of VIRUS DISEASES. Some of the ways they may act include preventing viral replication by inhibiting viral DNA polymerase; binding to specific cell-surface receptors and inhibiting viral penetration or uncoating; inhibiting viral protein synthesis; or blocking late stages of virus assembly.

Applications · 2 items

Description5-Iodo-2'-deoxycytidine is an iodinated analog of deoxycytidine and acts as an anti-viral agent.

Uses5-Iodo-2'-deoxycytidine is used in the construction of DNA oligomers to enable structural studies and photoactivated cross-linking. It is used in the synthesis of other modified nucleosides, such as 5-ethynylferrocenyl-2-deoxycytidine used in semiconductor electrodes and 10-(2-deoxyβ-D-ribofuranosyl)pyrimido[4,5:4,5]pyrimido[1,6-a]indole-6,9(7H)-dione (dCPPI).
