Chemistry & industry
Applications
UsesMonoperoxyphthalic Acid is used as a reagent in the synthesis of 4-Hydroxyretinoic Acid (H953300); a novel substrate for human liver microsomal UDP-glucuronosyltransferase(s) and recombinant UGT2B7.
Preparation methods
PreparationMonoperoxyphthalic acid is prepared as required by the addition of phthalic anhydride to 30% aqueous Hydrogen Peroxide, in the presence of Sodium Hydroxide or Sodium Carbonate. Magnesium monoperoxyphthalate is prepared by the addition of phthalic anhydride and Magnesium Oxide to aqueous hydrogen peroxide. Drying: magnesium monoperoxyphthalate should be dried over calcium chloride in a desiccator.
