UsesNaphthol AS-LT is a commonly used base dye for red. It can be coupled with various red bases to obtain maroon and various shades of red. It can also be coupled with other bases to obtain yellow, orange, blue, etc., but it is mostly used for dyeing red. For example, coupling with maroon bases GP and GBC yields maroon, while coupling with scarlet bases GGS and G, and red bases B, RC, and ITR all produce red. It is mainly used for dyeing and printing cotton fabrics, and also for dyeing silk, nylon, diacetate fiber, viscose fiber, and vinylon. It has a moderate affinity for cotton.
