PreparationCobalt(III) cyanide is believed to be obtained as a dark blue solid when the aquated acids H[Co(CN)4] and H2[Co(CN)5] are heated. When cobalt(II) cyanide is dissolved in potassium cyanide solution and the deep red solution is boiled in air the yellow hexacyanocobaltate(HI) is formed.
