(0.01 mole) of 2-methoxy-N-methyl- 2-(2-pyridyl)thioacetamide in 20 ml. of methanol is treated with 1.3 g. (0.015 mole) of morpholine and 0.45 g. (0.015 mole) of formaldehyde. The mixture is refluxed for 48 hours. The solvents are removed in vacuo. The residue is recrystallized twice from 2-propanol to give 2-methoxy-N-methyl-3-morpholino-2-(2-pyridyl)thiopropanamide, m.p. 128°-132°C.
