Procedure

23 g of a zirconium-based drier, Zirconium Hex-CEM® 12% solution (OM Group, Inc.) was added to the above-noted γ-cylodextrin solution. A white precipitate formed upon addition of the drier. The mixture was stirred for at least 16 hours. The precipitate was filtered off under reduced pressure. The precipitate was dried under normal conditions at ambient temperature. The FTIR spectrum of the resultant inclusion complex is provided in FIG. 1(e).
