Procedure

Under argon, a solution of 2-diphenylphosphino-ethylamine (590.3 mg, 2.57 mmol) and benzaldehyde (275.0 mg, 2.59 mmol) in ethanol (15 mL) was heated at 65° C. (oil bath) for 4 h. Then, the solvent was removed in-vacuo to give the desired product (>98% by 1H-NMR) as a colourless oil which solidified on standing (733.9 mg, 2.31 mmol, 90%).
