Procedure

S-Methylisothiosemicarbazide hydroiodide (46.6 g) and 1-aminobutane (48 ml) and water (100 ml) were heated under reflux for 1 hour. The resulting solution was evaporated to an oil which was crystallised from amyl alcohol/80-100 PE, to give the title compound (a).
