In analogy to the procedure described in example 120 f], 3-{3,5-dimethyl-4-[2-(5-methyl-2-phenyl-oxazol-4-yl)-ethoxy]-phenyl}-2Z-ethoxy-acrylic acid ethyl ester {prepared from 3,5-dimethyl-4-[2-(5-methyl-2-phenyl-oxazol-4-yl)-ethoxy]-benzaldehyde (example 117) and (ethoxy-ethoxycarbonyl-methyl)-triphenyl-phosphonium chloride (K. K. Bach, H. R. El-Seedi, H. M. Jensen, H. B. Nielsen, I. Thomson, K. B. G. Torssell, Tetrahedron 1994, 50, 7543-7556) in analogy to the procedure described in example 114 c]} was saponified to yield 3-{3,5-dimethyl-4-[2-(5-methyl-2-phenyl-oxazol-4-yl)-ethoxy]-phenyl}-2Z-ethoxy-acrylic acid as colorless crystals.
