Glyceric acid → Solketal
Participants
| Role | Name | HCID | Charge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reactant | Glyceric acid | HCID 752 | — |
| Reactant | 2,2-Dimethoxypropane | HCID 6495 | — |
| Reactant | L-Glyceric acid | HCID 6326776 | — |
| Reactant | Aluminium lithium hydride | HCID 21226445 | — |
| Solvent | Methanol | HCID 887 | — |
| Product | Solketal | HCID 7528 | — |
Reaction Steps
Alternatively, the glyceric acid can be reacted with the 2,2-dimethoxypropane without methanol to prepare 2,3-O-isopropylidene D- or L-glyceric acid which is then reacted with lithium aluminum hydride to produce the solketal.
