Reaction Steps
To a solution of 3-thiophenemethanol (1.42 g, 0.0113×1.1 mol) in 20 ml of dry tetrahydrofuran, sodium hydride (1.35 g (ca.60% in mineral oil), 0.0113×3.0 mol) was added. After the bubbling ceased, a solution of 2,6-dichloro-4-methylaminopyridine (2.0 g, 0.0113 mol) in 30 ml of dry tetrahydrofuran was added dropwise at room temperature.
