Procedure
To 17.2 gm. of 4-hydroxymethyl-5-(3-methoxyphenyl)-1-phenylpyrrolidin-2-one in 35 ml. of dry pyridine was added at 5°-10°12.2 gm of p toluenesulfonyl chloride over one hour. Workup of the reaction following the procedure given in example 1E provided 17.6 gm of product as a crude oil.
