After refluxing for 1.5 hours, the mixture was allowed to stand overnight at room temperature. The mixture was diluted with water and the acetone was evaporated causing crystallization of 325 mg. of 1-allyl-1,3-dihydro-3-(2-methylpyridin-6yl)imidazo[4,5-b]pyridin-2-one, m.p. 111°-112° C.
