Danger
The term pararosaniline is used ambiguously in literature, sometimes referring to the free base, tris(p-aminophenol) methanol (CAS # 467-62-9), but more frequently referring to the hydrochloride salt (CAS # 569-61-9); Pararosaniline: Lifetime intragastric dosing of hamsters and rats causes rapid weight loss, diarrhea, and shortened lifespan, but no evidence of treatment related lesions or tumors; Mutagenic activity observed in reverse mutation assay on rat urine, but all other studies for mutagenicity negative; Emergency treatment: Methemoglobinemia; [HSDB] See Magenta.

Carc. 2 (95.5%)
Carc. 1B (100%)
Pararosaniline: Used as a dye intermediate and as a component of basic fuchsin dye for textiles, leather, and paper; [HSDB]
Component of basic fuchsin, a dye which is used in the coloring of textiles, leather, paper products and china clay products, as a filter dye in photography, as a microbiological stain and as a dye intermediate. /Pararosaniline/
Used in the preparation of organic pigments for printing inks and for the paper printing trade, for high speed photoduplicating and photoimaging systems; in the manufacture of carbon paper; in ink for typewriter ribbons; in jet printing for high speed computer applications; in the coloration of fur, anodized aluminum, glass, waxes, polishes, soaps, plastics, drugs and cosmetics, and in specialty applications such as tinting automobile antifreeze solutions and toilet sanitary preparations /Triphenylmethane/
Benzenemethanol, 4-amino-.alpha.,.alpha.-bis(4-aminophenyl)-: ACTIVE
The literature is frequently ambiguous when referring to pararosaniline; sometimes the term signifies the free base, tris(p-aminophenol) methanol (CAS # 467-62-9) but more often it signifies the hydrochloride salt form of the compound (CAS # 569-61-9)
純化方法Dissolve the dye in EtOH (1.16g in 30mL), filter and add aqueous NH3 till neutral (colourless) and precipitate it by adding H2O giving 0.8g, m 247o(dec, sintering at 230o). Dissolve it in EtOH, neutralise with NH3 till colourless, add 0.1g of charcoal, filter, and repeat, then add H2O (100mL) to precipitate the colourless carbinol (pseudo-base) and dry it in vacuo, m 257o(dec, also 205o, sintering at 232o). [Weissberger & Theile J Chem Soc 148 1934.] The carbinol is slightly soluble in H2O but is soluble in acids (e.g. HCl to give the coloured chloride [569-61-9]) and EtOH [pK: Goldacre & Phillips J Chem Soc 172 1949]. The perchlorate (dark red with a green shine) has m 300o and explodes at 317o [Dilthey & Diaklage J Prakt Chem [2] 129 1931]. [Beilstein 13 IV 2283.]

化学的特性purple to dark purple crystalline powder
Worker exposure...is probably limited by the need to maintain concentrations of the reactant aniline below the OSHA-mandated 8-hr TWA-PEL of 5 ppm (skin) or ACGIH recommended 8-hr TWA-TLV of 2 ppm (skin) for aniline and its homologues. /Pararosaniline/
... Groups of /Syrian golden/ hamsters were treated with magntaor paramagenta intragastrically twice weekly for life... In all high dose level groups (600 mg/kg), the majority of animals died within the first 10 wk of treatment. They showed rapid weight loss, hemorrhagic enteritis, stomach ulcers and diarrhea... lower doses (300 mg/kg pararosaniline) were well tolerated... Macroscopic alterations and microscopic lssions were similar in experimental and control hamsters... /Pararosaniline/
A survival assay with 2FR450 RLV-injected rat embryo cell cultures was performed using dose levels of 0.73 and 1.4 ug pararosaniline per 5.2x10+4 cells for 72 hr without exogenous metabolic activation. The attachment independence response was positive (251% increase over control) at the higher dose level only. /Pararosaniline/
Sprague Dawley rats were dosed intragastrically with either magenta or paramagenta twice weekly for life... /Respective/ dose levels of 400 and 600 mg/kg per wk /in 0.9% NaCl/ were toxic and not well tolerated by the rats which showed rapid weight loss, diarrhea, and short average survival time... No tumors were found that could be associated with the treatment. /Pararosaniline/
A transformation assay in BALB/3T3 cells (dosed at 0.008, 0.04, 0.2 or 1.0 ug/ml), Syrian hamster embryo cells (0.01, 0.10, 1.0, 10.0 or 100.0 ug/ml), and RLV-infected rat embryo cells (0.55, 0.73, 1.4, or 4.08 ug/ml) showed negative results. /Pararosaniline/

Worker exposure during shipping, handling and downstream use is expected to occur primarily via the dermal and inhalation routes. /Pararosaniline/
Consumers may be exposed through contact with products colored with the compound. /Pararosaniline/
Treatment for exposure to aniline is related to the percentage of methemoglobinemia: 30% or less, rest patient in bed, provide fruit drinks (sweetened); above 30%, provide oxygen; above 50%, IV infusion of a 5% dextrose solution (1000 cc) together with ascorbic acid; above 60% or more, provide treatment with 10-20% of a 1% methylene blue IV infusion.
