Get medical attention. Alert doctor to possibility of barium poisoning, particularly if compound was swallowed.

General First Aid:

Safe StorageSeparated from combustible substances, reducing agents and food and feedstuffs. Dry.
Firefighting HazardsIt is non-combustible, but it will accelerate the burning of combustible materials. If the combustible material is finely divided the mixture may be explosive.
Exposure Control and Personal Protection· Wear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
Fire Fighting Procedures · 3 件

Fire Extinguishing Media: Use flooding amounts of water. Do not use dry chemical, carbon dioxide or Halon. Special Information: In the event of a fire, wear full protective clothing and NIOSH-approved self-contained breathing apparatus with full facepiece operated in the pressure demand or other positive pressure mode. Do not release runoff from fire control methods to sewers or waterways. Water spray may be used to keep fire exposed containers cool.

Barium peroxide does not burn, but mixtures of barium peroxide and combustible, organic, or easily oxidized materials, such as wood, fuels, paper, and charcoal, will burn or explode if rubbed or contact a small amound of water. Use large amounts of water to extinguish the fire ... If material or contaminated runoff enters waterways, notify downstream users of potentially contaminated waters. Notify local health and fire officials and pollution control agencies. From a secure, explosion-proof location, use water spray to cool exposed containers. If cooling streams are ineffective (venting sound increases in volume and pitch, tank discolors or shows any signs of deforming), withdraw immediately to a secure position ... The only respirators recommended for fire fighting are self-contained breathing apparatuses that have full facepieces and are operated in a pressure-demand or other positive-pressure mode.

If material on fire or involved in fire: Flood with water. Cool all affected containers with flooding quantities of water. Apply water from as far a distance as possible ... If fire becomes uncontrollable, consider evacuation of one-half (1/2) mile radius.

Storage Conditions · 3 件

Keep in a tightly closed container, stored in a cool, dry, ventilated area. Protect against physical damage and moisture. Separate from incompatibilities. Separate from combustibles, organic or other readily oxidizable materials. Avoid storage on wood floors. Containers of this material may be hazardous when empty since they retain product residues (dust, solids); observe all warnings and precautions listed for the product.

Separated from combustible and reducing substances, food and feedstuffs. Dry.

Storage temp: Ambient

Cleanup Methods · 5 件

Accidental Release Measures. Ventilate area of leak or spill. Keep unnecessary and unprotected people away from area of spill. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment as specified in Section 8. Spills: Pick up and place in a suitable container for reclamation or disposal, using a method that does not generate dust.

Spill Handling: Evacuate and restrict persons not wearing protective equipment from area of spill or leak until cleanup is complete. Remove all ignition sources. Cover material with sand/soda ash 9:1 mixture. Mix thoroughly and while stirring, add slowly to sodium bisulfite solution with plastic implements. Neutralize with dilute /sulfuric acid/. After setting, decant the solution with flushing water and transport the sand to a sanitary landfill. Ventilate area of spill or leak after cleanup is complete. It may be necessary to contain and dispose of this chemical as a hazardous waste. If material or contaminated runoff enters waterways, notify downstream users of potentially contaminated waters. Contact your Department of Environmental Protection or your regional office of the federal EPA for specific recommendations.

Sweep spilled substance into containers, then remove to safe place. Do NOT absorb in saw-dust or other combustible absorbents. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment.

The sulfate may be brushed up and treated as normal refuse. Soluble barium salts should be scooped up and treated as for waste disposal. Wash the spill area thoroughly with water. /Soluble barium salts/

説明Barium peroxide, is a grayish-white powder that is slightly soluble in water. Barium peroxide is a dangerous fire and explosion risk in contact with organic materials and decomposes around 1450°F (787°C). It is also toxic by ingestion, is a skin irritant, and should be kept cool and dry in storage. The four-digit UN identification number is 1449. The primary uses of barium peroxide are in bleaching, in thermal welding of aluminum, as an oxidizing agent, and in the dyeing of textiles.

使用Bariumperoxide is used as a hydrogen peroxide source and oxygen oxidant, as well as a bleaching agent. Its main usage has been for making hydrogen peroxide and oxygen, in organic syntheses, fabric printing and dyeing. Barium peroxide is available commercially, primarily as the oxctahydrate (which is the more stable form of this peroxide).

一般的な説明A grayish-white granular solid. Insoluble in water. Noncombustible, but accelerates the burning of combustible material. Mixture with finely divided combustible material may be explosive. Mixtures with combustible material may be ignited by friction or contact with moisture.

調製方法 · 2 件

Barium peroxide, BaO2, was the first-known peroxo compound. It was used until mid-1900 in the manufacture of oxygen by the Brin process and of hydrogen peroxide by the Thenard reaction.

製造方法Barium peroxide is best prepared by reacting barium nitrate with sodium peroxide in a cold solution: Ba(NO3)2+Na2O2+xH2O→BaO2·xH2O+2NaNO3 The hydrated form is usually the octahydrate. If the anhydrate is desired, the hydrated peroxide is dried and then sintered at 350°C for 10 min or less: 4BaO2·xH2O+ heat→2BaO+2BaO2+xH2O+O2 About equal amounts of oxide and peroxide form. The ratio is a function of the time and temperature of heating. To separate the two forms, the heated mass is plunged into a large volume of water where the hydroxide is formed. The peroxide is insoluble whereas the hydroxide is soluble, allowing the separation of the two by filtration. The peroxide is then vacuum dried.
