ヘミセルロース

解説植物体中に，セルロースに伴って広く存在する多糖類の総称．アルカリに溶け，アルカリによって植物から抽出される．酸によって加水分解されて，成分の単糖にまで分解する．含まれる植物によって異なる成分単糖の種類により，キシラン，アラバン，マンナン，ガラクタンなどの名がある．

説明Twenty to thirty-five percent of wood mass is hemicellulose. Hemicellulose is a heterogeneous group of polysaccharides containing 15–200 pentose and hexose sugars joined by β-(1,4) linkages. The greatest number of these units are xyloses, thus they are also know as xylans. These structures are the first components of wood to undergo thermal decomposition during pyrolysis.
