使用Tetra-n-propylammonium hydroxide is used as an intermediate, ion exchange agent, surface-active agent and solvent. Further, it is used as an antistatic agent, detergent sanitizers, softener for textiles and paper products, emulsifying agents and pigment dispersers. It finds application as curing accelerators. In addition to this, it acts as a phase transfer catalyst in organic synthesis to enhance the reaction rate.
