解説ステロイド類の化合物の母核となる飽和炭化水素の一つ．ステロイドの縮合環基本骨格(構造式はステロイドを見よ)の五員環部分に，C8H17側鎖をもつ．コレステロールの母核となる飽和炭化水素．5-位炭素原子の立体配置の違いにより5α-コレスタン，5β-コレスタンの2種がある．

説明5α-Cholestane is a sterol that has been found in dust samples from urban and rural paved and agricultural and public unpaved roads. It has been used as an internal standard for the quantification of phytosterols by HPLC-MS/MS and fecal sterols by GC-FID and GC-MS.

使用5α-Cholestane was used as standard in cholesterol analysis by GC and HPLC.
