Danger
Hazard Traits - Carcinogenicity
Nitrilotriacetic acid, trisodium salt, monohydrate: Does not have an individual approval but may be used under an appropriate group standard
Literature sources indicate that this chemical is noncombustible. (NTP, 1992)
Combustible under specific conditions. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire. Finely dispersed particles form explosive mixtures in air.
SYMPTOMS: Symptoms of exposure to this compound may include irritation of the skin and eyes. Other symptoms may include irritation of the nose and throat. Contact with the powder or its dusts may result in irritation of the respiratory tract. Prolonged eye contact may lead to transient corneal injury. Ingestion causes gastric disturbances, burns to the gastrointestinal tract and vomiting. Ingestion of large amounts may cause hypocalcemic tetany with spontaneous recovery. Inhalation of the dust may cause coughing, wheezing, respiratory distress and mucous membrane irritation.
A corrosive substance that can cause injury to the skin, eyes, and respiratory tract; Possible human carcinogen; [ICSC] Positive evidence of carcinogenicity in rats produced at one laboratory, while another produced equivocal evidence in rats and negative evidence in mice; [NTP] Causes changes in renal tubules and changes in calcium oral repeated-dose studies of rats; [RTECS] A strong eye irritant; Harmful by ingestion; Suspected carcinogen; [Alfa Aesar MSDS] See Trisodium nitrilotriacetate.
使用Nitrilotriacetic acid trisodium salt monohydrate [(N(CH2CO2Na)3 H2O)] [NTA] has been used in the preparation of chemical bath deposition (CBD) solution for the deposition of quantum dots (QDs) on photoanodic substrate. It can also be can be used:As a complexing agent in an electrolytic bath solution for the synthesis of magnetic materials by electrochemical method. As a reducing agent and colloid stabilizer for the preparation of uniform gold nanoparticles.

Fires involving this material can be controlled with a dry chemical, carbon dioxide or Halon extinguisher. A water spray may also be used. (NTP, 1992)
In case of fire in the surroundings, use appropriate extinguishing media.
Fresh air, rest. Half-upright position. Artificial respiration may be needed. Refer for medical attention.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then refer for medical attention.
Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Give one or two glasses of water to drink. Refer for medical attention .
EYES: First check the victim for contact lenses and remove if present. Flush victim's eyes with water or normal saline solution for 20 to 30 minutes while simultaneously calling a hospital or poison control center. Do not put any ointments, oils, or medication in the victim's eyes without specific instructions from a physician. IMMEDIATELY transport the victim after flushing eyes to a hospital even if no symptoms (such as redness or irritation) develop.
SMALL SPILLS AND LEAKAGE: If you spill this chemical, you should dampen the solid spill material with water, then transfer the dampened material to a suitable container. Use absorbent paper dampened with water to pick up any remaining material. Seal your contaminated clothing and the absorbent paper in a vapor-tight plastic bag for eventual disposal. Wash all contaminated surfaces with a soap and water solution. Do not reenter the contaminated area until the Safety Officer (or other responsible person) has verified that the area has been properly cleaned.
Personal protection: chemical protection suit including self-contained breathing apparatus. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment. Sweep spilled substance into covered containers. If appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder. Then store and dispose of according to local regulations.
Burning sensation. Sore throat. Cough. Laboured breathing. Shortness of breath.
Redness. Skin burns. Pain.
Redness. Pain. Severe deep burns.
Abdominal pain. Burning sensation. Shock or collapse.
