解説methyl 3-oxo-2(2(Z)-pentenyl)-cyclopentaneacetate．C13H20O3(224.30)．ジャスモン酸メチル, ジャスミンの花の精油成分．油状物質．香料．沸点81～84 ℃(0.13 Pa)，[α]D－76.3°(メタノール)．n22D - 1.473．この発見後，遊離酸と糖やアミノ酸との結合物が糸状菌，藻類，高等植物などに広く分布していることが示された．これらは，伸長成長の抑制，葉の老化促進，種子花粉の発芽阻害，ジャガイモの塊茎形成促進作用など，多様な成長調節作用を示すことが明らかになっている.
