応用分野
解説p-menthane-1,8-diol．C10H20O2(172.27)．1,8-テルピンともいう．シス形およびトランス形の異性体がある．"シス形のテルピンは，水和して抱水テルピンになりやすく，テレビン油からつくる．トランス形のテルピンは，1,8-シネオールやα-テルピネオールなどからつくる．無水のシス形テルピンは，融点104～105 ℃，沸点263～265 ℃ の結晶．トランス形テルピンは，融点158～159 ℃，沸点258 ℃ の結晶であり，空気中の湿気を吸収して抱水テルピン(融点116～117 ℃)になる．これらは去痰剤として用いられる．[CAS 565-48-0]森北出版「化学辞典（第2版）
調製方法
純化方法Crystallise terpin from H2O or EtOH. The anhydrous cis-isomer distils at 258o/760mm but hydrates on exposure to moist air.
