The title compound was prepared from 3-(3-tert-butoxycarbonylmethoxy-phenyl)-2-methoxy-propionic acid methyl ester (PREPARATION 4, step 1) via the same procedure used to prepare (2S)-3-(4-carboxymethoxy-phenyl)-2-methoxy-propionic acid ethyl ester (PREPARATION 3, step 2) to produce a yellow oil. MS (ES) for C13H16O6 [M+H]+: 269.
