Methyl 3-hydroxybenzoate (6.4 g, 42 mmol), alcohol 121a (7.4 g, 42 mmol), diisopropyl azodicarboxylate (8.3 mL, 42 mmol), and triphenylphosphine (11.1 g, 42 mmol) were stirred in dry THF (120 mL) at 0 ° C. for 1 h, then for 18 h at room temperature.
