The alkylation of 2-[4-(benzyloxy)phenyl]-5-n-butyl-2.4-dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazol-3-one with 5-[4'-(bromomethyl)biphenyl-2-yl]-N-trityltetrazole (see Example 2, Step B) was carried out as described in Example 4, Step D. After work-up, flash chromatography over silica gel using 0.4-0.5% MeOH/CH2Cl2 gave an 81% yield of the product, homogeneous by TLC in 1% MeOH/CH2Cl2 ; mass spectrum (FAB) m/e 800 (M+1)+.
